Hello everyone! I'm Holi from Holibai, I'll be in charge of introducing you to excursions around our bay and to the islands near Baiona, and to the rafts. Cies Islands



The Cíes Islands are an archipelago located in the Vigo Estuary. They are made up of three main islands: Monteagudo, Faro and San Martiño.These islands have great natural beauty, with fine sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters. They are an ideal place for hiking, diving, kayaking and other outdoor activities. In addition, they have an important natural reserve, called the Maritime-Terrestrial National Park of the Atlantic Islands of Galicia, which protects the flora and fauna of the area.The Cíes Islands are also known for their famous Rodas beach, considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The beauty of these islands attracts many tourists, it is advisable to book in advance, as daily access is limited to a maximum number of visitors.


Ons Island



This island is part of the National Maritime-Terrestrial Park of the Atlantic Islands of Galicia and is known for their natural beauty and ecological value. It's a popular destination for lovers of nature and tranquility, as they are protected and the construction of buildings and the circulation of motor vehicles is not permitted.On the Ons Island, you can do activities such as hiking, exploring its paths and enjoying its landscapes, such as the well-known Ruta do Faro, which leads to the lighthouse located at the highest point of the island. You can also practice water sports, such as diving, snorkeling or kayaking, and enjoy its white sand beaches and crystal-clear waters.


San Simon Island



Also known as the Island of the Dead, located in the Vigo estuary and connected to the mainland by a stone bridge, it has a rich history. In the Middle Ages, it was a retreat for Benedictine monks who built a monastery in the 10th century, although it was later uninhabited. In the 16th century, it was used as a cemetery for plague victims, which gave it its nickname. During the 17th and 18th centuries, a hospital and a prison were built, and during the Spanish Civil War, it served as a prison for political opponents. Today, it is a tourist attraction that offers guided tours of its historic buildings, a viewing point with spectacular views of the estuary, and hosts cultural events and outdoor activities, such as hiking and kayaking.




The rafts



The bateas are floating structures used in the mussel farming industry, especially in this part of Galicia. These bateas consist of wooden or metal platforms that are anchored in the sea and are used to raise and harvest mussels.Some excursions also include a tasting of fresh mussels and other seafood.

The Rande bridge
